about medical grade skincare
At KinDRed Clinic we know how powerful our in-clinic treatments are but we also know that a consistent skincare routine at home is also needed to enhance your results and look after your skin health in the long term.
You wouldn’t visit the dentist every 6 months and then not brush your teeth in between appointments! Skincare is just the same.
Your initial consultation will always involve a discussion and advice about skincare. Our doctors can also offer remote skincare consultations. In clinic, we have a state-of-the-art skin scanner to achieve an in-depth assessment of your skin for us to tailor our advice to your skin’s specific needs.

What is the difference between high-street and medical grade skincare?
We understand that the world of skincare can be very confusing and it’s very easy to waste hundreds of pounds on products that don’t work or even upset your skin.
Certain skincare products do not need to be expensive or medical grade – such as cleanser and moisturiser. However, when it comes to active ingredients, such as vitamin C or retinoids – there is a huge difference in quality, evidence and efficacy when it comes to highstreet vs medical grade. Highstreet/over-the-counter skincare products are categorised as cosmetics in the UK and so they can claim to contain ingredients but in reality these could be at very low concentration or quality that have little or no clinical effect. Medical grade means that the products are evidence-backed, contain ingredients in the correct concentration to produce a result and are formulated correctly.
So, if you simply wish to wash and hydrate your skin, then highstreet is fine. But if you want to properly protect your skin, improve your skin or treat conditions such as pigmentation/acne/wrinkles – then you need our help! In addition, because we are a doctor-led clinic, we also have access to prescription-only skincare (such as tretinoin) which is in another skincare league entirely.
What skincare product should everyone be using?
If we had to choose only one skincare product for the rest of her lives, it would be a Heliocare sunscreen. 80% of skin aging is due to sunlight. Get into the habit of using a sunscreen every single day. We stock the amazing Heliocare sunscreen brand which have a super light weight formulation and a range of products to suit all skin types and concerns. Pop into clinic to try them out. Most people should also be using a daily medical grade vitamin c serum and a retinoid.
Where can I buy the skincare products?
KinDRed Clinic stocks Skinceuticals and Heliocare products in-clinic so simply pop in to clinic to buy these.
