CHEMICAL SKIN PEEL

Skin peels exfoliate the uppermost damaged skin layers to reveal the fresh and radiant skin beneath.

ABOUT CHEMICAL SKIN PEELS

We have a range of skin peels at KinDRed – ranging from no downtime peels for radiance to mid-depth peels to tackle skin conditions such as pigmentation and acne. Peels are a quick way to achieve tighter, smoother and brighter looking skin.

You may also be interested in our Hydrafacial treatment as this treatment includes a light peel.

Ideally, attend the appointment make up free.  Your skin will be cleansed with a special prep solution. Barrier ointment will then be applied to areas we do not need to treat (eg. eyebrows, lips). The peel solution will then be applied in 1 -2 layers as tolerated. You may experience a mild tingling and burning sensation for a few minutes but this should settle quickly. The peel is removed after 10 minutes with a gentle cleanser. A mineral sunscreen is then applied.

Skin should feel immediately smoother and more radiant. You may have some initial redness. In the coming days, skin may feel rough and start to flake/peel (some milder peels don’t cause flaking). It advisable to moisturise regularly and to carry a pot of moisturiser with you.

30 minutes

Minimal. Skin can be a little red for 24 hours and may peel/flake for a few days (depending on the peel used).

2-3 months

Superficial and mid-depth peels are generally safe with few complications. People with sensitive skin may experience more initial redness and flaking. It is important to avoid excessive UV exposure (and wear sunscreen) after a peel to avoid pigmentation changes.

After your treatment you will be emailed with aftercare instructions so you can refer to this at any time.

Following a peel, your skin is especially sensitive to the sun. Everyone should use a factor 50+ sunscreen daily anyway, but please ensure you pay particular attention to applying it for 2 weeks after the peel. Avoid strong direct sunlight or sunbeds and consider wearing a hat.

Avoid picking at flaking skin and allow it to shed naturally.

Apply moisturiser regularly. We will recommend some specific aftercare products to enhance results.

Don’t use products with retinol/retinal/tretinoin/salicylic acid/glycolic acid/lactic acid/benzol peroxide for 72 hours after the peel.
